My name is Hooriya Masood and I am an aspiring young entrepreneur with a passion for gardening and homegrown vegetables and flowers. I have always loved to garden, ever since I was a child, but living in a small apartment in downtown Toronto, I didn't have the opportunity. Moving to Richmond Hill provided me with a garden I could finally take care of myself. Soon at my high school, I got the opportunity to grow flowers with a few of my friends. We grew the flowers from seed and sold them to raise money for the local food bank as well as our school's Greenhouse Club. With the Greenhouse Club, I grew vegetables right outside my school. I realized that I really enjoyed growing these flowers and vegetables myself. Especially in the case of vegetables, I realized how much nicer and fresher they were than the vegetables I normally bought from the grocery store. In addition, I read up on how they were much healthier as well. I wanted other people to realize this too. My teacher then introduced me to the Ministry of Ontario's Summer Company Program, and my business idea came from there. I decided I would give people quality vegetables and beautiful flowers. I was accepted into the program, and it was very beneficial and really helped start out my business. I grow the following vegetables; lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, garlic, cilantro, and carrots. I grow the flowers zinnias, gladiolas, and marigolds as well. I look forward to making my business a success and expanding in the future!
